It is that time of year again: a time for giving! I happen to love giving gifts. There have been many times in my life when I have found myself without the financial resources to give lavish presents, but I always find a way to give!  I relish the voyage of hunting for the perfect object, the item that will bring a genuine smile to the face of someone I love. To achieve said smile effect rarely takes extravagance, just the effort of thoughtfulness. With half of my life left behind in New York City, and the other half residing in Paris, I thought I would share with you some of my favourite “ooooh” and “ahhhhh” worthy gifts that can be found right here as well as Stateside:

ScarfThe gift to last a lifetime – Suprême Bon Ton Scarves:

These scarves were inspired by the gift of a silk Hermès scarf given to the designer by her grandmother. As she held it in her hands, she knew it was a gift she’d keep all her life. Now, Ella Perdereau designs and creates silk scarves of the same quality, at a more accessible price so many can experience that same treasured luxury. Suprême Bon Ton can be purchased in Paris from www.supremebonton-shop.com and in New York through www.givvven.com, a same-day gift service in Manhattan.

CactA living thing – Cacti or succulents:

It is broadly known that I am a bit of a freak about cacti and succulents. I love to adorn my home with the beauty of living, growing plants. It is one of my favourite gifts to receive and in kind, it is something I love to give. However, do not be mistaken, though cacti and succulents are fairly easy to keep alive, they still need care and attention as does any other living thing, so be sure to ask for and include care instructions with any giftable plant. Cacti and succulents can be purchased in Paris from Les Suculent Cactus 111, rue de Turenne, 75004 and givvven.com, a same-day gift service in Manhattan.

TeaTranquillity is the present – Mariage Frères:

Moving to New York City as a university student feeling so far from home, I would roam the aisles of Dean and Deluca looking for something to help me feel at peace in my new surroundings. I would inevitably choose Mariage Frères tea, and find comfort in the simple process of preparing myself a cup of tea. When given as a gift, the smell is immediately enchanting and the added gift of tranquillity is imminent. Mariage Frères can be purchased in Paris at 35 Rue du Bourg Tibourg, 75004 and in New York at Dean and Deluca 560 Broadway, New York, NY 10012.

ColFor Him or for Her – Atelier Cologne:

An exquisite perfumery in Paris that creates unisex scents from the finest materials. Each scent brings about a unique essence of whoever’s skin it touches. With a range of price points and sensations, you are sure to find the perfect gift for someone you love. Atelier Cologne can be purchased in Paris at 8 Rue Saint-Florentin, 75001 and in New York at 247 Elizabeth St, New York, NY 10012.
