70 scooters (50cc) will be placed around Paris during a 4 month testing phase. 150 beta testers are currently being chosen, if you’d like to try the system you can register here
How does it work?
• The CityScoot App displays a map locating scooters nearby along with their battery level.
• Once you’re a registered user, booking the scooter should be a fast process (it’s claimed the process takes a few seconds)
• Once booked, the App will send you the pin code by SMS to unlock the selected scooter
Two options are available, a free subscription and a premium subscription option. Pricing begins at 3€ for 15 minutes and riders are permitted to leave the scooter anywhere in Paris. However those leaving the scooter at a charging station will have a reduced price of 2€. If a rider collects a scooter with less than 30% charge the ride is free.
The plan for the scooter sharing program is growth, CityScoot plans to have 150 scooters in circulation by the end of 2015 and 1000 by the end of 2016.
The Velib and Autolib have been successful and Paris certainly seems the perfect location for a scooter sharing system. Read more on www.cityscoot.eu
